Tumor Board SaaS platform

Short project description:

Tumor Board is a SaaS platform for medical institutions specifically designed for oncologists to manage oncology patients.

Role

Lead Designer, UX Researcher

This project was undertaken by a startup with a small team, and I was involved in it from the very beginning. As the sole designer on the project, I was responsible for all tasks, from research and interviews to rough layouts and the final outcome, including the component library.

Throughout the project, I collaborated with the product owner, development team, project managers, analysts, and regularly met with oncologists to conduct interviews and prototype system integrations testing.

Note: Unfortunately this project is restricted by NDA so I can’t share designs.

Project Overview

Tumor Board is a SaaS platform for medical institutions specially created for oncologists to manage oncology patients. The system allows tracking the patient's medical history with versioning of all changes in their condition, aggregating data from their medical records and other medical documents and databases with the patient's consent. Additionally, the platform enables doctors to request documents, clarify information, and view patient complaints through a companion application installed on the patient's phone.

However, the platform's greatest value lies in its ability to host online Tumor Boards via video conference mode and presentations, where the attending physician from any part of the country can seek consultation from a panel of specialists on a specific Tumor Board topic (e.g., breast cancer). For this purpose, the platform features an events calendar (Tumor Board) that the attending physician can access. Each Tumor Board is presented as a card indicating the Tumor Board topic (typically a specific group of oncological diseases), date, venue, panel composition, and available slots. If the timing, topic, and panel composition suit the physician, they enroll their patient, after which, upon confirmation, they begin preparing the patient's case presentation.

For patient presentation, the platform includes a built-in service similar to PowerPoint, allowing the physician to showcase the patient's case almost automatically by generating slides based on the patient's data, medical history, analyses, and other known information. Subsequently, the physician can simply edit the slides if necessary or add new ones from the template library. The presentation will be available on the platform during the Tumor Board.
